Personality

Emphym is polite, but distant, unwilling to open up to people. That said, if you do manage to earn his trust, he is loyal, and would be willing to dirty his hands to protect his loved ones.

Background

Emphym was born of the forbidden union of an angel and a demon. Unwanted, he was abandoned as a baby, then found by a human woman, who took him as her own.

She was a brilliant scientist who was working on finding a cure for a strange illness that would make people’s bodies gradually become pitch black until, finally, they became were overcome and turned to dust.

She eventually caught the illness from her experiments and perished before she could ever figure out a cure, leaving her son Emphym to find their house empty after going on an errand, and his mother’s bed covered in dust.

Devastated by his obvious loss, Emphym decided to dedicate himself to his mother’s work, using his unusual biology to his advantage to perform extreme experiments on himself in hopes of finding the cure.

However, just like his mother, the experiments led to him contracting the illness, though its progress is much slower than on a human.

With his days numbered, Emphym obsesses over finding a cure.

No matter the cost.

Trivia

• As a hybrid, Emphym inherited both his biological parents’ powers, although they are much weaker than those of full-blooded angels and demons. From his angel side, he inherited healing powers that allow him to close most wounds, although this leaves scars. From his demon side, he gained the ability to hypnotize humans for a short period of time.
