Caden used to be a bright and enthusiastic young man (with an admittedly dubious work ethic) who was fully dedicated to his research and his lover (in that order). After his transformation, however, his personality became cold and twisted, leaving him nothing but a darker shell of who he once was.
Caden was a bright, young scientist, who was obsessed with pushing the limits of science and biology. He did a lot of extremely dubious experiments on all kinds of creatures in order to try and create new species. One of his experiments involved his own lover, who he turned into some sort of giant, wolf-like abomination that ended up killing many people. Because of this, the villagers shackled him and “his” monster, and locked them in some abandoned underground ruins.
It was intended for Caden to die, killed by his own creation, however the creature refused to hurt him, recognizing him as his “mate”. It would have then made sense for the young scientist to die of starvation or thirst, but it turned out that he had been experimenting on himself as well, and the duress his body was put through ended up being the trigger to his full transformation into a humanoid, but definitely non-human creature.
He became virtually invincible, with regenerative abilities so powerful, that any wound he received would instantly heal up without laving any scar. Not only that, but his personality became much more twisted than it already was, any signs of humanity in him completely gone. Now, the only thing somewhat human about him is his outward appearance, and even then his bright yellow eyes are proof enough that something is very wrong.
